The American Civil Liberties Union has filed a lawsuit to California educators over getting adequate English language instruction. State and federal law are requiring schools to teach non-English speakers the language, but California, according to the suit, is not offering instruction to nearly 20,000 students. The suit also alleges that the lack of instruction meant that some children were held back a grade or forced to live with low proficiency scores because of a language barrier.
Zubeidat Tsarnaeva, mother of terrorism suspects Dzhokhar and Tamerlan Tsarnaev, insists that her eldest son was not completely inspired by a radical Muslim cleric he knew in Boston. Others, including the suspects' uncle disagrees.
A grandmother, a young couple and their two young children were found killed in a home in the small town of Manchester, Illinois on Wednesday morning. The suspect also died after a shootout with police.
