Saudi Arabia plans to execute more than 50 people convicted of terrorism, two Saudi newspapers reported this week, in what appears to be a warning to would-be jihadists at a time of militant attacks on the kingdom.

Britain's financial watchdog has fined Barclays (BARC.L) 72 million pounds ($109 million) for cutting corners in checking wealthy customers involved in a huge transaction described by one senior manager as potentially the "deal of the century."

Prime Minister David Cameron said on Thursday it was time to join air strikes against Islamic State in Syria because Britain cannot "subcontract its security to other countries".
