The Federal Government will cover the complete costs of emergency power and transit for New York and New Jersey. According to the Craig Fugate, an administrator at the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), President Obama said that the federal government would cover the power restoration and transit repairs.

Major New York LaGuardia Airport reopened Thursday four days after major hurricane Sandy. New York's other major airport John F. Kennedy, and New Jersey's Newark Airport reopened Wednesday, but due to excessive flooding LaGuardia remained closed for an extra day.
Hurricane Sandy has devastated many regions on the East Coast. The storm, which has been called the greatest storm on the East Coast, has caused power black outs in many areas, destroyed homes and lives as well as completely debilitated the New York City transit system.
