Toddler Found in Cage: Tulsa Father Arrested After Police Discover 18-month Child in Dog Cage

By

A Tulsa man was arrested after police discovered his 18-month-old daughter locked in a dog cage lying in feces, while his other four-year-old daughter was found locked in the back yard in the cold without any clothes. The Tulsa father, who remains unnamed, was discovered high on drugs in an "induced stupor" according to ABC News.

According to the report, concerned about the dropping temperatures while the naked four-year-old remains naked in the backyard, the neighbor called the police informing them of the situation. ABC News reports that after the police knocked repeatedly at the door with no answer they broke in "then one of the officers looked inside and saw a small child in a dog cage."

"A citizen was concerned, he heard a small child crying outside for about 20 minutes. He went outside to investigate and found the 4-year-old child...You have to give credit to that neighbor who acted and did not ignore the situation," said Tulsa Police spokesman Officer Leland Ashley.

In addition to the four-year-old and 18-month in the cage, police discovered another 3-year-old in a different room of the house. The children have been taken into the custody and handed over to the Department of Human Services.

The mother, who was not present at the scene at the time of the incident, was not arrested.

The father is in police custody and bail set has been set for $50,000. A court date has been set for November 19.

According to the police report, all three children show no signs of any physical harm.
