‘Ghostbusters' 2016 Reboot Update: Michael K. Williams talks about 'dream' role, confirms Slimer's return; New villain revealed

If the ghosts are back to terrorize cities and towns, this means the busters will return as well in the remake of the popular film, Ghostbusters. The film is scheduled for a release this year and to whet the fans' excitement, Michael K. Williams gave hints on what to expect from the upcoming reboot.

Decades after the last Ghostbusters film hit theaters, a remake is slated to be released featuring some ghosts from the original version. According to Latin Post, actor Michael K. Williams disclosed some of the key characters that are expected to return in the reboot. In an interview, Williams who plays an FBI agent working with the mayor of New York, confirmed that Slimer will be making an appearance in the film. In fact, he revealed he has a scene with the iconic character.

"I'm not going to lie, working with Melissa, and Kristen, and Kate, was really dope but I got to work with Slimer, dude. Like Slimer!!! I'm in a scene with Slimer! I'm a huge Ghostbusters fan and it was a dream come true." According to the actor, his role in the sequel is 'a dream job.'

Williams also gave the fans more excitement as he said that the ladies, Kristen Wiig, Kate McKinnon, Melissa McCarthy and Leslie Jones, have been on top of their game and must be watched.

Meanwhile, Boston Herald reported that the film could include Slimer's backstory in the upcoming remake. Slimer comes to the first gig of female Ghostbusters in Rockefeller Center to dispense the ghost of a fat Mafia guy. The rumor is that McKinnon tests the proton pack and shoots, leaving the ghost with dismembered torso, arms and legs. Thus, the birth of Slimer with only a green head. After which, the head reportedly gets away but video recordings of their battle go viral.

Moreover, Inquisitr wrote that the antagonist in the film is Rowan. The character has been introduced and Neil Casey will play it, but the form and his visualization remains yet unreleased.

The 'Ghostbusters' remake is an upcoming gender flip of the original supernatural comedy film that premiered in 1984. The film will star Kristen Wiig, Melissa McCarthy, Kate McKinnon, Leslie Jones and Chris Hemsworth. It is directed by Paul Feig and is slated to hit theaters on July 15, 2016.
