‘High School Musical 4’ Confirmed! Disney Announces Nationwide Casting For New Batch of East High Wildcats

Many might have been devastated when "High School Musical 3" ended the story of the iconic East High singers, but fans have a reason to rejoice again now that "High School Musical 4" is confirmed to be in the works. Disney has officially announced its plans of starting a new installment which has recently commenced its search for its next set of actors and actresses.

High School Musical 4 is now within the audience's reach as Disney Channel ceased the silence regarding the franchise recently. According to MTV, a fourth HSM movie is officially in development and Disney Channel confirmed this on Tuesday. The next film will reportedly include a fresh East High Wildcats and their rivalry team, West High Knights. With this, a West Side Story-type of love story could be on the horizon.

Furthermore, Deadline reported that Jeffrey Hornaday, director of Disney Channel's Teen Beach Movie, was tapped to direct and create the choreography for the film. Dan Beresdan and the sole writer of three High School Musical films, Peter Barsocchini, are also attached to create the film's script while Bill Borden and Barry Rosenbush are returning as executive producers.

According to Hollywood Reporter, Disney announced the start of the nationwide casting for High School Musical 4. It is open for actors who want to be part of the upcoming film. Open casting calls can be seen in the official website of Disney Channel.

Disney Channels Worldwide President Gary Marsh said "High School Musical is part of Disney Channel's DNA, it embodies all that we stand for. As a way of continuing to embrace that heritage, we're excited to announce 'the start of something new' - as we launch a search for a new class of East High Wildcats to star in a fourth installment of the High School Musical franchise."

The first "High School Musical" film debuted on 2006 on Disney Channel and ended in 2010 in a theatrical release. Rumours about the fourth movie emerged ever since, but it wasn not only until now that it has been confirmed. The announcement was made in celebration of the 10-year anniversary of the first High School Musical film.
