'Indiana Jones 5' is a yet untitled sequel to 2008's 'Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull'. The planned follow-up will reportedly not star Chris Pratt as a replacement for leading man Harrison Ford, who for years has played the titular archaeologist in all of director Steven Spielberg's films in the franchise. Meanwhile, an 'Indiana Jones' Easter egg was recently found in 'Star Wars: The Force Awakens'.
During an interview with sound editr David Acord, Nerdist found out that one of the sounds used in a scene in 'Star Wars: The Force Awakens' was actually from 'Indiana Jones and the Raiders of the Lost Ark'.
Acord said, "When the rathtar is rolling down the hallway after Han and Chewie, I put in the sound of Ben Burtt's boulder roll sound from Raiders of the Lost Ark when the boulder is chasing Indy." It seemed to be homage to Harrison Ford's dedicated work on two of George Lucas' most popular franchises.
According to TV Over Mind, Dr. Indiana Jones is one of Ford's most memorable on-screen portrayals in the history of his career. Although he played several famous characters in numerous blockbuster hits over time - from Han Solo in the Star Wars anthology to Rick Deckard in Ridley Scott's 'Blade Runner', Ford will always be associated with the role of the iconic archaeologist and adventurer in the 'Indiana Jones' Franchise. However, this did not stop speculations of his eventual replacement in the sequel from emerging.
Chris Pratt of 'Guardians of the Galaxy' and 'Jurassic World' series has been named the likely candidate to replace Ford as a young Indy. However, according to an article by the Sydney Morning Herald, director Steven Spielberg seemed unconvinced about having to cast someone else as the titular hero.
Spielberg said, "I don't think anyone could replace Harrison as Indy, I don't think that's ever going to happen... It's certainly not my intention to ever have another actor step into his shoes...There is only going to be one actor playing Indiana Jones and that's Harrison Ford."
The 69-year old filmmaker directed Ford in the original 1981 release 'Indiana Jones and the Raiders of the Lost Ark' as well as the sequels 'Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom', 'Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade' and 'Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull'.
Although news has been scarce regarding 'Indiana Jones 5', Disney Chairman Bob Iger said that they are pushing through with more films in the franchise in the future. He said, "With George Lucas's Star Wars - and Indiana Jones, by the way, which will be coming, we have more great stories. And I think in a world where there's far more content and intellectual property and great choice, I think great stories still stand out."
