‘Green Lantern’ Reboot Update: Remake possible after previous franchise disappointment; Actors eyed to portray Green Lantern released

Now that the Warner Bros has cancelled any plans to make a sequel to the 2011 film, Green Lantern, due to underperformance and bad critical reviews to the film, the studio decided to reboot the story of Hal Jordan. With regards to this, latest updates regarding the progress of the film starts with the actor portraying in the titular film, Green Lantern Corps.

Now that Batman V Superman and Suicide Squad is getting released this 2016, Warner Bros. will try to expand the DC Extended Universe that will include Green Lantern in 2020. According to Parent Herald, there are reports that indicate or rumour Star Trek's Chris Pine to take the titular role in the reboot. If the news proved true, Chris Pine might choose between two characters he'll portray since he's also eyed for the role of Steve Trevor, Wonder Woman's love interest.

However, news surfaced that the actor was never even contacted regarding the role. As Cinema Blend reported, the actor stated that he was not offered a Green Lantern role ever, much more, a conversation regarding it. This would be an indication that we'll see Steve Trevor as portray by Chris Pine in the Wonder Woman movie in 2017.

Moreover, now that the reboot is entitled Green Lantern Corps, many have speculated that it'll feature multiple human versions of the Lantern. Screen Rant reported that two Green Lanterns concept arts were posted in Cinema Professional Days during the latter part of November in which Hal Jordan and John Stewart can be seen. In addition, the article stated that Tyrese Gibson, from the Fast and Furious franchise, explicitly told the media how bad he wants to play John Stewart. Lastly is rapper Common, who was casted as John Stewart in the George Miller's 2007 never-made movie of Justice League but he still stated his interest to do it.

Green Lantern Corps in the 11th instalment film in the DC Extended Universe that started with 2013's Man of Steel. Three actors were rumoured to be considered for the two, John Stewart and Hal Jordan, of multiple Lanterns that the reboot will be featured. The Warners Bros. have announced their plans on releasing the reboot Green Lantern Corps on June 19, 2020.
