The Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow update has been reportedly released to some Android devices including Samsung's. In fact, the beta version of this upgrade already reached Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge.
SamMobile reported that Samsung is always slow when it comes to delivering minor Android version updates to its smartphones and tablets. But now, it seems that the South Korean tech company is doing things a little better with the Android 6.0 beta that was released for the Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 edge. Both of the devices are getting a software upgrade that brings them up to Android 6.0.1 and includes a number of changes and new features.
Tech Times stated on its article that the Samsung Galaxy S6 and S6 edge Android 6.0 Marshmallow beta is limited to a couple of owners who participated in the program in the UK. This basically means that the update didn't reach the S6 handsets in United States.
The new OS brings visual improvements, Google Now on Tap and Doze Mode. Android Authority cited that the Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow beta version also bring the expanded catalogue of emoji.
As for the functionality, there are some tweaks and streamlining on the notification panel. The Private Mode has also obtained some quick setting options that make it quicker to use. Users can also now designate to use an install overnight feature that will automatically perform any necessary upgrade during the dead of night which is 2 to 5am so that the owner's usage won't be interrupted.
As for the Edge model, the settings for Edge panels are now far more reachable. With the Android 6.0.0, enabling and disabling different panels users will have to enter each specific panel's submenu and toggle them on and off.
Upon the update there's a checkbox beside each one in the main menu that will let S6 Edge owners to quickly choose which panels are currently active. The Tasks Edge panel is a welcome and highly customizable addition as well. It is likely to work a bit like a stripped down version of Tasker, allowing users to set profiles based on situations or locations and it quickly perform tasks through a set of assignable shortcuts.
Additionally, if the user uses beta version, they can check the update by going to Settings > About device > Software update.
With the beta version of Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow's release, many are hoping that the final version will be rolled out next. In the meantime, users of the Samsung Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge will just have to keep an eye for further announcements.
