Amidst the violent clashes following the ouster of Egyptian president Muhammad Morsi, a 39-year-old Coptic priest was killed in the Sinai Peninsula by gunmen while driving by on a motorbike last week. Mina Aboud Sharween was shot dead in El Arish, the Northern Sinai's provincial capital.

Lee Gang-guk, the pilot at the controls of an Asiana plane leaving from Seoul, South Korea which crash landed in San Francisco on Saturday, was reportedly getting on-the-job training, the carrier's CEO revealed Monday,. CEO Yoon Young-Doo told reporters Lee Gang-Guk "was undergoing an OJT (on-the-job training) flight in order to gain experience in order to fly a new type of airplane. For this OJT flight, an experienced pilot with more than 10,000 hours of flight experience was on-board as an instructing pilot, and took all responsibility regarding flight."

A juveniles' court in New Dehli is ready hand down the first verdict next week concerning the gang-rape of a physiotherapy student, which sparked mass protests throughout the capital in recent months, the BBC reported. The court has been hearing the case of one of six suspects, who was 17 at the time of the crime, and was soon arrested after the brutal assault of the woman on a moving bus on December 16.
