An Arizona jury Wednesday found Jodi Arias guilty of first-degree murder for killing Travis Alexander in June 2008, CNN reported. The conviction means Arias could face the death penalty. In the next phase of the case, prosecutors will have a chance to present additional evidence and jurors to decide whether Alexander's death was caused in a cruel manner.
As part of an initiative called Coming Together, the Coca Cola company pledged to fight obesity on Wednesday, as the company promised to slap calorie counts on all its packaging, news reports said. They have also promised to cease advertisements directed at kids. Its company has taken increased concerns over its sugar-stuffed beverages.
Joan Orie Melvin, a former state Supreme Court Justice, was sentenced Tuesday to house arrest and community service in soup kitchen, as well as ordered to send handwritten apologies for her crimes on photographs of herself in handcuffs in the state. Melvin was sentenced to three years of house arrest, followed with two year on probation.
