Jodi Arias, the 32-year-old woman who was found guilty on May 8 of first-degree murder for the 2008 of Travis Alexander, pleaded for a life sentence to jurors on Tuesday, asking them not to punish her family. In her testimony, Arias referred to the family of her one -time lover and victim Travis Alexander, saying “I never meant to cause them pain.” Alexander was found dead in his Mesa Arizona home, having been shot in the head and stabbed nearly 30 times with his throat slit.

Convicted murderer Jodi Arias is expected to address jurors on Tuesday as they decided whether to sentence her to death or life in prison for brutally killing Travis Alexander, her ex-boyfriend in Arizona five years ago.

Activist and actor Sean Penn appeared on Capitol Hill on Monday, testifying before the subcommittee on Africa, Global Health and Global Human Rights and International Organizations. Penn was introduced to the case in part by fellow actor Mark Wahlberg, regarding the case of Jacob Ostreicher, a New Yorker being held in Bolivia.
