Breathecast has reported that "X-Men: Days of Future Past" director Bryan Singer will be directing the movie's sequel, "X-Men: Apocalypse" after all. It could be recalled that Singer is currently entangled in a slew of lawsuits led by a former actor who has claimed to be abused by the former and several Hollywood executives.
Quoting the director in an interview he did with Empire magazine, he also clarified rumors about the villainous character Apocalypse as an alien in the upcoming franchise. In the post-credits scene in "Days of Future Past," fans were treated to a mysterious character who is being praised by Egyptians as he used his telekinesis powers to build the ancient pyramids we are familiar of today, as four horsemen keep watch.
Singer had then said, "People were concerned we were making Apocalypse an alien. It's odd. I don't know where that came from."
In the Marvel comics universe, Apocalypse is regarded as the first mutant from ancient Egypt. A powerful immortal, the super villain possesses massive powers, which include the abilities to teleport and fly. He is also said to have extraordinary strength, invisibility, and the power to transform his body to whatever he desires.
The "X-Men" director had earlier teased fans about "X-Men: Apocalypse" when he shared a photo of a script treatment on social media. Simon Kinberg, Dan Harris, and Michael Dougherty, who were also visible in another Twitter image regarding working on the "Apocalypse" movie Singer shared during the World Cup season, have been confirmed to be working with the director in writing the script.
Meanwhile, Kinberg has cautioned speculators about reports of "22 Jump Street" star Channing Tatum appearing as the card-playing Gambit in "X-Men: Apocalypse" Enstarz said. In fact, Kinberg is unsure of whether a Gambit appearance is happening in the superhero franchise real soon. Tatum has since spoken with Latino Review about a potential Gambit solo movie or an appearance.
"I genuinely don't know the answer to that question. It's something we are all talking about whether it would be good for Gambit to be in a mainline X-Men movie or he would be in his own standalone movie potentially one day to be able to be in another X-Men movie after his Gambit movie introduces him. I really don't know the answer," he said.
"X-Men: Apocalypse" is scheduled to hit the silver screen on May 27, 2016.
