Popular science fiction show ""Doctor Who"" is about to get some changes. Peter Capaldi has announced that he will be leaving the show at the end of the year. It's time once again for the tradition of guessing the next "Doctor Who".
BBC reports that Capaldi will be leaving the show saying the it was time to move on. He did however, invite fans to guess the 13th "Doctor Who".
Meanwhile, Vulture.com consulted two prominent British bookmakers in William Hall and Ladbrokes on the "Doctor Who" replacement. Here are the possible choices for the next doctor according to the experts.
Olivia Colman
It may be time to break the tradition of a male "Doctor Who" with Olivia Colman. Colman is known for her breakthrough roles in The Night Manager and Fleabag. Her greatest asset however is the 10th Doctor David Tenant's blessing saying she would be a magnificent choice.
Ben Whishaw
Whishaw's name has been around the "Doctor Who" rumor mill since Capaldi was being Cast. Schedule conflicts made the actor back out but he did liked the idea of playing the doctor.
Richard Ayoade
Richard could be the first "Doctor Who" of color having a Nigerian for a father. The comedian could bring his own sense of humor as well as some nerdy sensibility if cast as the doctor.
James Norton
Norton is known for his roles in Grantchester and Happy Valley and has appeared on "Doctor Who". The actor says that he would like to revisit his character on the show despite meeting a gruesome death.
Andrew Scott
Scott's connection with "Doctor Who" makes him a viable option. Outgoing showrunner Steven Moffat has cast him as Jim Moriarty on his other series Sherlock where he has shown to be a fan favorite.
Halley Atwell
Atwell is famously known for Captain America's sweetheart Peggy Carter in TV shows and the movies. She herself put her name on the running for becoming the next "Doctor Who" by tweeting "I'd like to BE Doctor Who."
