Everyone's favorite band of inmates is set for a return as Netflix has announced the release date of "Orange is the New Black Season 5". The show will continue last season's cliffhanger of an ending as well as explore new plotlines.
According to tvline.com, "Orange is the New Black season 5" will premiere on Friday, Jun 9, 2017. Netflix also showed a 15 second teaser that was released on Wednesday. Although the video doesn't reveal anything significant, it did remind fans of intense Orange is the New Black Season 4 finale.
The trailer for "Orange is the New Black Season 5" showcased brief shots of several of the Litchfield inmates. The characters include Piper (Taylor Schilling), Alex (Laura Prepon), Tasystee (Danielle Brooks), Lorna ( Yael Stone), Red (Kate Mulgrew) among others. The clip ends with Daya (Dasha Polanco) who is pointing the gun. If there's one thing in commong among all the charaters shown was their stressed expression that serve as a reminder of how Orange is the New Black Season 4 ended.
To recall, last season's "Orange is the New Black" ended Taystee along with her fellow inmates banded together and started riot after the senseless death of Poussey (Samira Wiley). Humphrey, the psychotic officer tried to control the crowd by pulling out an unauthorized gun with the intention of using it.
But when the guard was pushed down and knocked her gun away from her possession, Daya was able to grab it and point the gun at Humphrey and a female officer. The scene then cut to black which signaled the end and where "Orange is the New Black season 5" begins.
Daya and her succeeding actions will certainly be the focal point for "Orange is the New Black Season 5's" premiere episode. According to ETonline.com Daya has had a tough journey on the road so far.
The inmate was impregnated by an officer earlier in the show but later abandoned.Her child was then taken to by the social services. "Orange is the New Black Season 5's" premiere will continue Daya's story inside the Litchfield Penitentiary.
