Apple fans are excited for this year's release of iPhone 7, following the release of iPhone SE. Whenever Apple launches its latest offering to the market, loyal customers are really interested to check how the new one differs from the previous models. One feature to look forward to for the iPhone 7 is its thinness.
Apple iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus are both thicker than the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus. Because of the 6s's 3D touch feature, it needs to be thicker by .2mm than the first iPhone versions. To give you a clear picture, iPhone 6s' width is 7.1mm while the iPhone 6 measures only 6.9mm. The iPhone 6s Plus measures 7.3mm in thickness.
However, rumors said that Apple decided to put their new iPhone 7 into diet prior to its release to make it slimmer. As a matter of fact, the new model is likely to be as thin as the iPod touch. The iPhone 7 is expected to measure between 6mm to 6.5mm. It could also lose its camera bump and antenna lines unlike the prior models.
So aside from it being thinner than the previous iPhone models, what else is new with the iPhone 7? It was reported in January that Apple is testing three different designs for the iPhone 7 that includes "a completely new, thinner look as well as a backup design that looks substantially like the iPhone 6s."
Rumors spread that Apple decided to remove the 3.5mm earphone jack to make it look slender. Apple is planning to launch a cord-free wireless earbuds as a replacement. This put the loyal customers to worry because thinner handset means sacrifices in terms of batteries. However, a higher battery capacity is still possible to happen. There are rumors that the new iPhone 7 will have a 6.5% increase in battery life from 6.61 WHr from the iPhone 6s to 7.04 WHr for the new one which will obviously offer longer juice life. Good questions to consider here is if it will fit in the new handset's slimmer look.
Lastly, another rumored feature of iPhone 7 is its dual camera lens. One leak shows a large, elongated single hole of the firms latest handset. Famous analyst Ming-Chi Kuo has "confirmed" this new feature, however, actual implementation is still vague up to date.
Apple is expected to launch the iPhone 7 sometime in September but whispers also surfaced that it will be released earlier.
