Apple Inc. will be having an event this March 21 highlighting the iPhone 5se and other new devices. Apparently, Samsung will be releasing its Galaxy S7's mini as well. This version is set to go head-to-head with the forthcoming handset from the Cupertino-based company.
According to Ubergizmo, the iPhone SE is a 4-inch version of the iPhone that is anticipated to be a slightly cheaper iPhone model. It is meant to replace the iPhone 5s. While the device is yet to be unveiled, it already has a rival in the horizon. Samsung reportedly wants to launch a device that could compete with the iPhone SE. Some speculations have it that Samsung is preparing to launch a smaller version of the Galaxy S7. This mini version of the Galaxy S7 smartphone is expected to pack quite a punch.
As for its specs and features, Sammobile noted that the Samsung Galaxy S7 Mini would feature a 4.6-inch 720×1280 resolution display. Under its chassis is either Snapdragon 820 or Exynos 8890. These are the same processors that can be found in the Galaxy S7 and the Galaxy S7 edge. The Galaxy S7 mini is also rumored to have a 3 GB of RAM and a 12-megapixel rear camera in a package that's just 9.9mm thin.
On the other hand, Morning News USA stated that the upcoming iPhone SE will mostly bear similarities with the iPhone 5s but will adopt similar features that can be found on the 6s and 6s Plus. Nonetheless, it was noted this device won't be having 3D touch displays.
It can be remembered that the Cupertino-based tech giant last launched the 4-inch iPhone 5S in 2013 and since then, there has been no new 4-inch iPhone from the company. As a substitute, there were two other handsets launched in the interval: the 4.7-inch iPhone 6 and 5.5-inch iPhone 6 Plus.
During the Apple's event on March 21, the company will be unveiling the iPhone SE along with a 9.7-inch iPad Pro and an upgraded version of Apple Watch. Meanwhile, there is still no available information regarding Samsung Galaxy S7 Mini's release schedule.
