Canadian versions of Samsung Galaxy Note 5 have been confirmed for upgrade to Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow on April 27, 2016. Remaining units in the United States under AT&T and T-Mobile can also expect the same update from these mobile carriers.
Samsung Galaxy Note 5 owners under Telus and Rogers can now mark out April 06 and 27, 2016 respectively, as the official Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow update will be released on these dates. These units in Canada are expected to spur updates in the U.S. which had been halted.
AT&T and T-Mobile are the remaining leading carriers here that were not able to release Marshmallow on Samsung Galaxy Note 5. Verizon Wireless was the first carrier in the U.S. to release the update of the device followed by U.S. Cellular and Sprint.
By mid-March, it was reported that AT&T will release Marshmallow on its Galaxy Note 5 units; however, it was not pushed through. Accordingly, the heavy changes on TouchWiz UI forced mobile carriers to run more tests than the usual to ensure best quality interface in compliance to regulations and standards. Unfortunately for T-Mobile Galaxy Note 5 owners, the device is still under the manufacturer development phase. Both carriers have not yet spoken as to when the exact release date of Marshmallow would be.
Moreover, it is exciting to know what AT&T and T-Mobile can offer on the table as Verizon, Sprint and U.S. Cellular were all fantastic with their native features that came with Marshmallow. In a previous report, tech site Phone Arena underscored the main reason it took Samsung six months to come up with an interface make-over.
Samsung offers Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow which heavily boasts on a number of customization options for the TouchWiz user interface (UI). TouchWiz UI goes up a fewer notches from its simpler Android-painted look.
Marshmallow on Samsung also comes with an updated browser with security modes on top of the new features to include Doze, a redesigned app drawer, app links, Android Pay, fingerprint support, app permissions, and a lot more.
