Samsung Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 edge under Verizon Finally Updated to Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow; AT&T and T-Mobile Up Next

Verizon had finally begun rolling out the official Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow update on Samsung Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 edge via over-the-air release. Carriers left behind AT&T and T-Mobile are expected to follow suit.

Samsung Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 edge units under Verizon Wireless officially received the Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow update on April 1. The roll-out is expected to end up after a couple of weeks from the onset of the release.

The Marshmallow update brought optimization improvements, bug fixes and the tweaks and features. Before downloading the updated, make sure that device is connected over a Wi-Fi network or a strong Verizon signal. Also, make sure that device battery is fully charged to prevent from disruptions.

Verizon Marshmallow update for Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 edge comes with the new software version MMB29K.G920VVRU4CPC2 and MMB29K.G925VVRU4CPC2, respectively.

Both devices will receive Verizon's live broadcast and easier app searches for notification panel. Having an edge screen, Galaxy S6 edge will get the edge panel.

For Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow features, both devices will get Now on Tap, Doze, runtime permissions, several bug fixes and a lot more.

Live broadcast can now be accessed via Camera > Mode > Live broadcast. Shortcut can also be created on the home screen by tapping Create shortcut on the Home screen on the welcome screen. Alternatively, go to Settings > Create shortcut.

In particular, invites can be sent on contacts even if their numbers are not saved on the phone. Simply enter their number when tapping the invite button.

Meanwhile, AT&T and T-Mobile are certainly releasing this month being the remaining major carriers in the United Stated which have yet not rolled out the same update on the device. Suspending this update until next month will already be long overdue.

T-Mobile is currently in testing stage for Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 edge units while AT&T has not outlined any details regarding the release of Marshmallow. However, updates should be coming very soon.
