'Terminator 6', otherwise known as 'Terminator Genisys 2', is a planned installment in the 'Terminator' cinematic series. Lead actor Arnold Schwarzenegger hinted that the sequel is pushing through despite rumors of the franchise's end. He admitted that he was excited for the follow-up in a recent interview.

According to The Telegraph, Schwarzenegger announced that the sixth film in the highly popular science-fiction action franchise for the 1980s is in development. The 68-year old actor, who plays the iconic cyborg assassin in the series, confirmed that the long-awaited sequel is already in the works under Paramount Pictures. The studio pulled 'Terminator Genisys 2' from its tentative release schedule for March 2017 last January with its original slot taken over by Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson's upcoming 'Baywatch' film adaptation.

When asked about a possibility of a sequel, Schwarzenegger replied enthusiastically, "I am looking forward to it, absolutely." Although he failed to elaborate on further details, it seems that the sequel has already been greenlit.

According to another article by Den of Geek, speculations emerged that 'Terminator Genisys' was the already the concluding film in the long-running series first began in 1984, with the release of James Cameron's 'The Terminator'.

'Terminator Genisys', directed by Alan Taylor, was released under Paramount in July 2015 and featured the return of Schwarzenegger as the titular character. Emilia Clark, Jason Clarke and Jai Courtney joined him in the latest cast. The film earned $440 million at the box office, making it the second-highest grossing film in the franchise. Despite its mainstream success, it was panned heavily by critics, who found the plot and acting performances unsatisfactory in comparison to its predecessors

According to The Movie Network, it remains unknown whether Emilia Clarke and Jai Courtney will be reprising their roles in the sequel as Sarah Connor and Kyle Reese, respectively. It is also unconfirmed if Taylor will be returning to helm the film. 'Terminator Genisys' was originally intended as the first in a planned trilogy as a way of revitalizing the aging franchise.

'Terminator 6', or 'Terminator Genisys 2', is a planned sequel to director Alan Taylor's 2015 release. It is reportedly in development under Paramount Pictures and may feature the return of Schwarzenegger as the titular cyborg assassin. No further details regarding plot and casting has been announced as of the present.
