'Wonder Woman' is an upcoming superhero film starring Gal Gadot as the titular DC superheroine. She recently stole the limelight in Zack Snyder's 'Batman v Superman', with many critics saying that she was the most delightful character to watch in the film. Gadot revealed that her Wonder Woman will be much different in her upcoming solo film.
According to The Guardian, Zack Snyder's newly released 'Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice' received mixed reviews from critics and fans alike. However, audiences raved about Gadot's performance as the heroine Diana Prince a.k.a. Wonder Woman with some saying that she was the underwhelming film's only saving grace.
Snyder's superhero film is intended as the follow-up to 2013's 'Man of Steel' and followed the conflict between Henry Cavill's Superman and Ben Affleck's Batman. It also introduced Gadot's iconic female superhero into the DC Extended Universe (DCEU). 'Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice' premiered on March 25, 2016 in the United States and United Kingdom, grossing $424 million worldwide upon its release.
According to another article by Time, Gadot overshadowed her male counterparts especially in her short yet action-driven scenes. The 30-year old Israeli actress is not a stranger to roles in action films and reportedly does her own stunts as well. She broke through Hollywood in her performance in the 'Fast and the Furious' franchise as the biker chick Gisele.
Gadot is set to return in her very own standalone film in Patty Jenkins' 'Wonder Woman'. The upcoming movie is intended as part of the DCEU and will be the first female-fronted film in the franchise. According to i09, Gadot explained that her superheroine will be much different in the solo film in comparison to what audiences saw on 'Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice'.
She said, "The Wonder Woman that you see in Batman v Superman is a woman who has been around, and she's very experienced. She understands a lot about man. Whereas in the standalone movie we are telling the grown-up story. Diana becoming Wonder Woman, and this was a story that was never told before. When she starts this journey, she's very pure. She's more naive, she's this young idealist who does not really understand the complexities of life and the complexities of men."
'Wonder Woman' is an upcoming superhero film directed by Patty Jenkins based on a screenplay by Jason Fuchs. It is scheduled to premiere in theaters on June 23, 2017.
