‘Fifty Shades Darker: Jamie Dornan almost booted out for lack of on-screen chemistry with Dakota Johnson

'Fifty Shades Darker' is an erotic drama film directed by James Foley based on a screenplay by Niall Leonard. Foley reportedly reached the point of frustration over Jamie Dornan's performance as Christian Grey that he almost booted the actor out of his role in hopes for someone else with better on-screen chemistry with Dakota Johnson.

According to the Inquisitr, Jamie Dornan almost lost his role as the lead protagonist Christian Grey. Director James Foley thought his on-screen chemistry with co-star Dakota Johnson was "lackluster" and he almost gave up on the actor. Dornan was almost fired from the erotic cinematic trilogy adapted from E.L. James' novels of the same name.

The filmmaker reportedly was not pleased with Dornan's performance as Anastasia Steele's love interest. According to Celebrity Dirty Laundry, the actor was reportedly having trouble reconnecting with his character during filming since his wife Amelia Warner gave birth to their second child on March 16. To make things worse, he won the Worst Actor award on the recent Golden Raspberry Awards as well as Worst Screen Combo award with co-star Johnson.

Meanwhile, the 33-year old actor is set to reprise his role as the young entrepreneur with a kinky secret. The character was first introduced on the big-screen in Sam Taylor-Johnson's first film in the series 'Fifty Shades of Grey', released last February 13, 2015. According to The Daily Mail, Dornan and Johnson were spotted filming a number of scenes in Vancouver for Foley's follow-up.

In one scene, the two were engaged in a passionate kiss against a wall in the dark. Although the pair looked tense while the cameras were rolling, they eased up after a scene was shot and interacted with everyone on-set in full smiles. The sequel began principal photography in February and took the cast and crew to Canada for production.

'Fifty Shades Darker' is an upcoming erotic drama film directed by James Foley. It is intended as the second installment in the 'Fifty Shades of Grey' cinematic trilogy. The sequel is scheduled to be released on February 10, 2017.
