‘Justice League’: Zack Snyder explains how‘Batman v Superman’ controversial ending connects with upcoming films

'Justice League' is an upcoming two-part installment intended as part of the DC Extended Universe (DCEU). Director Zack Snyder explained the ending to his recent release 'Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice' and how it will connect to the new films.

According to Den of Geek, Snyder will return to direct the upcoming two-part installment 'Justice League'. His recently released film in the DC Extended Universe (DCEU), 'Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice', saw the beginnings of the superhero team-up composed of Henry Cavill's Superman, Ben Affleck's Batman and Gal Gadot's Wonder Woman. 'Justice League' will also introduce Jason Momoa's Aquaman, Ezra Miller's The Flash and Ray Fisher's Cyborg into the DCEU.

Although Snyder's 'Batman v Superman' was more serious in tone, the director revealed that the 'Justice League' films will be much lighter in comparison. He said, "One of the things that lightens it is having Flash or having characters that are more optimistic. This movie is particular to characters who are having a crisis of conscience, which sort of draws them together."

According to Techno Buffalo, Snyder's most recent release may have hinted at the big villain for 'Justice League'. It was reported that Darkseid may be presented as the two-part film's main antagonist.

Speculations of Darkseid's introduction into the DCEU rose when a new image published by Empire Magazine featured a post-apocalyptic landscape with a giant Omega symbol on the ground. Darkseid harnesses the Omega force as a source of his power in the original comic books.

It was also previously reported that Warner Bros. was looking to cast Darkseid after a casting sheet from 'Batman v Superman' was leaked online. Snyder also hinted that Doomsday will return in the upcoming back-to-back 'Justice League' films.

Meanwhile, Snyder explained his intentions behind the shocking ending for 'Batman v Superman' and how the events eventually connect with 'Justice League'. According to Collider, he said, "...one of the big things I wanted to make sure of was that as we went into Justice League, Bruce Wayne was the one who was gathering the Justice League. I thought it was really important to have Bruce Wayne be the samurai who goes and finds the other samurai, that to me was important. And with Superman around it's kinda hard, because Superman's Superman..."

'The Justice League' is an upcoming two-part action-adventure film directed by Zack Snyder. Part one is scheduled to be released on November 17, 2017 while part two is set to follow on June 14, 2019.
