The new Google HTC Nexus 2016 phones, rumored to support virtual reality and 3D Touch, are expected to be released in Q4 2016. The Nexus 2016 phones could run on Android N platform.

Rumors are rife that HTC and Google are teaming up to release the new Nexus phones by the final quarter of 2016. International Business Times reported that the Google HTC Nexus 2016 phones could rival Apple's iPhone 7 expected to launch in September this year.

The upcoming Google HTC Nexus 2016 are touted to feature Nexus VR support and 3D Touch. It was reported that a Nexus VR headset compatible to most Android phones is currently underway. This rumored Nexus VR headset could launch alongside the new Nexus 2016 phones.

According to Lawyer Herald, many Chinese Android devices will sport pressure-sensitive displays as 2017 approaches. Companies like HTC, Xiaomi, Meizu, Oppo, and Vivo are planning to adopt the technology on their future Android smartphones.

The Google HTC Nexus 2016 phones could be one of them as they are rumored to offer 3D Touch support. This feature will allow the new Nexus 2016 phones to compete with the iPhone 7. It was said that 3D Touch will be natively supported in the next major Android software update - the Android N.

As such, the Google HTC Nexus 2016 phones are expected to run on Android N, as per China Topix. Google might be planning to unveil the Android Marshmallow successor at the Google I/O developer conference.

Google and HTC could equip the new Nexus 2016 phones with smaller displays than its predecessors. The Nexus 5X successor's rumored screen size is 5", while the Nexus 6P successor is said to sport a 5.7" screen.

There is no leaked information available yet regarding the other specs of the new Nexus phones, such as processor, battery, camera, and others. Meanwhile, there are speculations that a Nexus 7 2016 will be coming from Google and Huawei.
