While a lot of Samsung Galaxy Note 5 users are waiting for the Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow, the ones who are subscribed under Verizon Wireless are lucky as they have started receiving the software. Additionally, the said firmware is expected to bring new features as well as enhancements with the Galaxy Note 5 handsets.
According to iDigitalTimes, the Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow firmware has arrived Verizon Wireless' Galaxy Note 5 handsets. This happened just days after a roadmap has leaked showing Samsung smartphones would be getting the latest Google operating system in March. The Big Red also announced the update on its support page last Friday.
Verizon's Samsung Galaxy Note 5 is obtaining the system build MMB29K, which takes the device from Android 5.1.1 Lollipop to Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow. The software update includes a new set of emojis, navigation bar updates for tablets and Google's routine security update.
Aside from that, Christian Today stated that the Marshmallow 6.0.1 also brings the new Do not Disturb mode, which gives users the power to choose which apps or contacts can send notifications on their handsets.
Other enhancements that were incorporated are the amazing battery-saving features such as the Active Display mode, which automatically dims the screen when the smartphone is not in use; and Doze mode, which puts the Samsung Galaxy Note 5 to a deep sleep and turns off the applications in the background.
Apart from that, the newest Android Marshmallow also introduces the new Google Now on Tap, which gives users details of what's on the phablet's screen. A new security system has been made so owners Galaxy Note 5 can accept or deny features in an app.
Other than Android Marshmallow, Techaeris noted that the Note 5 will also come with updates to WiFi Calling and Live Broadcasts. As for WiFi Calling, users can now activate it by going to settings > Advanced Calling > Activate Advance Calling. After it's been enabled and owners of Note 5 make or receive a call, they will see the handset with WiFi bars in the top left corner of the call. That shows that WiFi Calling is turned on.
Meanwhile, the Live Broadcast can be found under Mode in the camera app wherein there is an option to create a shortcut to Live Broadcast on one's home screen for easier access. One other small enhancement is that the Amazon App store is now uninstalled; it will be one less app that users have to worry about if they don't ever use it.
The Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow update would hit Verizon's Samsung Galaxy Note 5 devices wirelessly and automatically. But if a notification doesn't appear on their handsets; users can manually check the update by going to Settings > About phone > Software updates > Check for Updates.
