GoPro Hero 5 Release Pushed Back to Late 2016 For Karma Drone Launch; New Software For Desktop Arriving In March

By

GoPro fans are looking forward for the upcoming Hero camera release, but recently its launch was reportedly pushed back to late 2016. The reason behind the delayed unveiling of the GoPro Hero 5 is to give way for the GoPro Karma Drone. Meanwhile, the company is also slated to launch a new software for desktop this March.

According to Yibada, the GoPro Hero 5 release is pushed back to October as GoPro Inc. is preparing for the release of the company's first ever drone. It was previously reported that the highly anticipated fifth gen action camera will be unveiled along with the new Karma drone and both devices will be offered in bundle. Nevertheless, recent information suggests that the drone will be announced first and the GoPro Hero 5 release will follow at a later date. There are also talks saying that GoPro needs enough time to plan Hero 5's launch, as the company does not want the camera to have the same fate as its predecessors.

Furthermore, Christian Today added that more improvements are also expected to be implemented on to the GoPro Hero 5 like an Ambarella H1 System on Chip in order to be able to record videos in 4K resolution and the ability to record in full true 3D. This sports camera is also predicted to have better online capabilities in order to allow consumers to stream videos live and to connect their videos instantly to YouTube and other social media outlets.

Vine Report also noted that Nicholas Woodman, GoPro Chief Executive Officer, has stated that "Later this year, we will introduce the most connected and convenient GoPro we have ever made, Hero 5."

He added that to make way for this new product, GoPro will be permanently shelving the entry-level GoPro Hero line and this action will start on April. The company also planned to reduce its product line-up so that it could focus on its newer actions cameras, a move to increase the value of its publicly traded stocks. The line-up will now include the upcoming GoPro Hero 5 as well as the Hero 4 Session, Silver, and Black.

Moreover, GoPro will be announcing a new software that's made to work with the new camera and its cloud services. This firmware will arrive in the form of a new desktop management app that's slated to land in March. The new app intends to help users manage content of the action camera much easier.

Nevertheless, GoPro hasn't provided an exact release schedule of the GoPro Hero 5 and the concrete details about its specs are not yet available. But as the expected launch nears more information should surface soon.
