GoPro Hero 5 Release: Action Cam Waiting for Karma Drone, To Debut With Improved Connectivity Features

By

The GoPro Hero 5's release has been waited by the company's patrons for a while now. Although the upcoming Hero device is ready to debut, it is still reportedly waiting for the Karma Drone. The new sports camera is expected to armed with an improved connectivity feature.

According to Christian Today, the Hero 5 is ready to be unveiled but GoPro is still waiting for the final version of its other upcoming device, the Karma drone. As per tech analysts, Hero fans may expect two GoPro launches in the latter part of the year, with the GoPro Hero 5 reportedly arriving in October.

As it was speculated, the GoPro Hero 5 will be released on the latter half of 2016 and the industry followers have stated that this may be the perfect timeframe for the Karma drone to make its way to the market. In addition, having an almost simultaneous launch with the GoPro Hero 5 will be a good scheme for the company.

It was also reported that the features of the Karma drone itself is one of the indirect reasons why GoPro delayed the Hero 5's release. The company has stated that the upcoming Karma drone is compatible with both past and future GoPro action cams. This basically means that the drone should be launched before the new Hero 5, so that owners of GoPro action cams can check out the drone first for them to decide whether they want an upgrade or not.

Aside from the release date, Ecumenical News noted that GoPro CEO Nicholas Woodman revealed the company's plans to reorganize its lineup. The company will stop selling the Hero and Hero LCD cameras by April. Instead, it will focus on selling the Hero 4 Session, Silver and Black cameras.

Woodman also stated that later this year, the company will be unveiling the most connected and convenient GoPro it has ever made, Hero 5. He revealed that the upcoming member of the Hero family along with other future products will be developed with more connectivity features. Users will be able connect the GoPro action cameras to their smartphones with ease and it would also be easier for them to save photos onto the cloud.

As previously reported, the GoPro Hero 5 might be armed with the Ambarella H1 System on chip that will enable users to record videos using 4k resolution at 60 frames per second. It was noted that GoPro Hero 4 Black functions at the same resolution, but the upcoming action camera will have a higher speed. The GoPro Hero 5 is also believed to have an improved 2.7k performance as well as higher frame rates for 1080p video capturing. Apart from that, the upcoming member of the Hero family is also predicted to be able to film at a depth of 60 meters, a mile higher from Hero 4's 20-meter capacity.

Although the exact schedule of the GoPro Hero 5's release date is not yet confirmed, it is nice to know that the upcoming sport camera is armed with several improvements. Furthermore, just like the previous Hero cameras, it could be paired with the company's first drone, Karma.
