GoPro Hero 5 Release Date Slated on October? Sports Cam To Be Bundled With Drone Karma

By

There have been a lot of speculations about the release date and even the specifications of the upcoming Hero camera from GoPro. The long-anticipated Hero 5 is reportedly expected to be unveiled October this year, and be bundled with the Drone Karma.

According to Crossmap, GoPro, the American camcorder company, was supposed to announce two of its latest products at the recently concluded Consumer Electronic Show (CES) 2016 at Las Vegas, Nevada. But this did not seem to materialize. The two devices are the GoPro Hero 5, the latest series to its popular action camera line, and the quadcopter, the GoPro Karma drone.

Even though GoPro has yet to come out with specific details about its Karma drone, it is possible that the company might announce everything sometime soon.

Nevertheless, there are some talks saying that it is possible that Hero 5 and the Karma drone will come out as a bundled package because the latter reportedly have an all GoPro product compatible set-up. Based on some previous reports it is said that the upcoming GoPro Hero5 will be designed to fit into the Karma drone.

Furthermore, Christian Today reported that the GoPro Hero 5 has also been reported to be launching with an 8k video resolution recording ability at full HD. This is at least double the current highest resolution of 4k that the Hero 4 Black is able to record. As promising as it seems, some tech analysts are not too confident about the high resolution as it may have a undesirable effect to noise management and battery life of the sports camera.

The Hero 5 is also believed to have higher frames per second shooting ability, with the new setting being able to shoot up to 60 frames per second. This is also twice the current highest setting of 30 frames per second.

Ecumenical News added that the GoPro Hero 5 would also be significantly smaller and lighter than its predecessor, the Hero 4 action camera. Just like other GoPro cameras, the Hero 5 will be able to capture images and videos underwater. It is also predicted to be able to go down to depths of up to 60 meters. This revelation would be very interesting given that the Hero 4 only does down to 20 meters. The Hero 5's capability to perform at extreme depths may be aided by the development of new special camera housing.

Once launched, the newest generation action camera will sell for a price of no lower than $550.

GoPro is still tight-lipped in giving concrete information about the GoPro Hero 5, but it is expected that soon enough, the company would give the sports cam's specifics.
