GoPro Hero 5 Release Pushed Back To October 2016; Possible Reasons Behind the Delay Detailed

By

The much awaited GoPro Hero 5 is slated to hit the market shelves in October. Possible reasons of the delay of the upcoming Hero camera include the release of the new Karma drone, financial matters and feature enhancements.

According to BREATHEcast, the launch of GoPro Hero 5 might be postponed and moved to the final quarter of 2016, particularly in the month of October. It is said that the primary reason behind the delay of the next-generation action camera is the release of the all-new GoPro drone. Karma is reportedly set to be unveiled in the second half of the year.

GoPro founder Nick Woodman has also given his stand regarding the shift in the release schedule of the much awaited member of Hero cameras. Woodman stated that the company has made everything backwards compatible. He also added that GoPro's goal is to make the upcoming action camera work with anything new the company made and vice versa.

Additionally, Crossmap stated on its article that another reason for Hero 5's multiple delays on its release is because of GoPro's financial problems. It was specified that the prices of its gadgets were down by an enormous 75% compared to last year, making a lot of the company's investors worried.

While pushing back the launch of the device means longer waiting time, Inquistr noted that this also means more time for the developers to improve the camera's features.

Previous reports stated that GoPro Hero 5 will arrive armed with the Ambarella H1 System on Chip that will enable users to record videos using 4k resolution at 60 frames per second. It was noted that GoPro Hero 4 Black functions at the same resolution, but the upcoming action camera will have a higher speed. The GoPro Hero 5 is predicted to have an improved 2.7k performance as well as higher frame rates for 1080p video capturing. The upcoming member of the Hero family is also believed to be able to film at a depth of 60 meters, a mile higher from Hero 4's 20-meter capacity.

Although the reason for the delayed launch of GoPro Hero 5 is not that certain, a lot of action camera enthusiasts are eagerly waiting for this device to arrive. With more time for feature enhancements, the company has its hopes up that the new product will be a hit once launched.
