‘Barry’: Second Barack Obama biopic film in the works; Devon Terrell, Anya Taylor-Joy to star in upcoming movie

Barack Obama is getting his own biopic film entitled 'Barry.' The film would be the second attempt to have Obama as the center piece of a movie which could inspire many in the upcoming years.

Though details have been scarce for the month, a film that would revolve around United States of America President Barack Obama is being done as of the moment. According to Ventures Africa, Barry has been confirmed to focus on the story of Obama's college life in New York. Specifically, Barry will attempt to detail Obama's life in 1981 while he's in the city and the key relationships that Obama has created during the time.

iDigital Times reported that the Devon Terrell will play the young Barack Obama in the upcoming independent film. The actor is only known for having starred in Steve McQueen's HBO series, Codes of Conduct. Meanwhile, Anya Taylor-Joy from The Witch was tapped to do the role of an unnamed female classmate that Obama met while studying in Colombia University in 1980. The film will follow David Maraniss' 2012 book entitled 'Barack Obama: The Story' and 'Dreams from My Father' which detailed Obama's story of personal experiences in race-relations issues.

The film is noted to be the second film regarding Barack Obama, as noted by Entertainment Weekly. The first one titled 'Southside With You' was set on 1989 where it captured the story of Barack Obama and his first date with the first lady, Michelle Obama. Their story has debuted on Sundance Film Festival and was brought to Miramax.

Barry will be directed by Vikram Gandhi and penned by Adam Mansbach.It is currently produced by Black Bear Pictures. There is still no announcement, however, on the release date of the film.
