'Star Wars 8' Update: Are Poe and Finn going to have a bromantic hook up in the sequel? John Boyega is up for it

By

Production for "Star Wars: Episode VIII" has officially begun, and the cast members are pumped up to reprise their roles. There's still a lot of mystery as to how "Episode VIII" will pick up where "Episode VII," and there's more than one way to explore the narratives and linkages flowing throughout the movies. But there's one ship fans hope will sail in "Episode VIII," and it's not Finn and Rey

"Star Wars: Episode VIII" cast Daisy Ridley, John Boyega and Oscar Isaac have hit the gym to get their bodies fit and ready for physically demanding stunts and action scenes, which hints that the upcoming "Star Wars" movie will undoubtedly be an explosive sequel. In a video posted on Instagram, Boyega showed off his new cardio routine, and you can hear Isaac cheering him on in the background saying, "Yeah, baby! Go on!"

This leads to the highly in-demand love line between Finn (John Boyega) and Poe (Oscar Isaac). Although in "Star Wars: The Force Awakens" Finn and Poe's relationship seemed purely platonic, fans couldn't help but feel some sort of deeper connection between the two; and perhaps fans could be right.

"As far as I'm concerned when JJ [Abrams] sat us down to go through the script, it was a bromance," John Boyega told Radio Times. "But now I'm learning what Mark Hamill said before, when he didn't know that Darth Vader was Luke's father - you never know what they're going to pull."

But even then, Boyega is just as stumped as fans are with respect to the goings on for "Star Wars 8". The 23-year-old British actor said he's observing incoming director Rian Johnson to get hints on what's to come and prepare himself.

There are many speculations with regard to the storyline for "Star Wars 8." For one, there's a big possibility that the movie will explore Rey's history and lineage. According to The Week, the most popular theory suggests that Rey could be the lost daughter of Han Solo and Princess Leia. The blood of Darth Vader running through her veins could explain the strong Force that she has contained for so long. In the comic books that were released after the first three "Star Wars" movies came out, it was revealed that Han Solo and Princess Leia had three children, one of which, Kylo Ren, turned to the dark side.

In related news, John Boyega picked up the EE Rising Star award at the 2016 BAFTAs. He defeated stars Dakota Johnson ("50 Shades of Grey"), Brie Larson ("Room"), Taron Egerton ("Kingsman") and co-star Daisy Ridley. Boyega now joins the ranks of James McAvoy, Tom Hardy, Eva Green, Will Poulter and Kristen Stewart who were previous recipients of the award, the Daily Mail reported.

"Star Wars: Episode VIII" will hit theatres on Dec. 15, 2017.
