‘Avengers: Infinity War won’t connect to ‘Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2’; Josh Brolin says playing Thanos is “Unnerving”

'Avengers: Infinity War' is an upcoming two-part installment intended as the sequel to 'Avengers' and 'Avengers: Age of Ultron'. Josh Brolin, who plays Thanos in the MCU, said portraying the character was "unnerving" but exciting. The film won't reportedly connect with James Gunn's upcoming 'Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2'.

According to GameSpot, Josh Brolin revealed that playing the biggest villain in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) was "unnerving". Brolin plays the villainous galactic overlord Thanos a.k.a. The Mad Titan and was introduced in 'Guardians of the Galaxy' as the main villain. Thanos' main objective is to collect all Infinity Stones, objects of immense power, in order to hold almighty dominance over forces in the universe.

Brolin admitted that his appearance in 'Avengers: Infinity War' will be a different experience for him saying that playing Thanos was more than lending his voice for the character.

He said, "It's not voice work, it's mo-cap. I'm there. I'm there and I'm not in a booth. I'm being filmed. I have a bunch of crap on my face. I'm being filmed by like thirty-four cameras? Thirty-six cameras? Something like that. Every movement, everything. So, it's very new to me, it's very exciting, it's very unnerving.

But I sure trust these guys! You know? We're supposed to get together very soon to talk about the trajectory of Thanos in the next few years and it's very exciting. It's one of the better decisions I think I've made."

According to We Got This Covered, the 48-year old American actor will make his biggest appearance yet in the MCU in parts one and two of 'Avengers: Infinity War'. He may have had uncredited cameos in preceding films such as 'Guardians of the Galaxy' and 'Avengers: Age of Ultron' as the galactic war lord but it seems clear that Marvel will be making use of his powerful villain status in future films in the MCU.

Although films in the MCU have the tendency to crossover with one another, 'Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2' director James Gunn revealed that his upcoming sequel will not feature Thanos nor the Infinity Stones.

According to MovieWeb, Gunn said that although the Infinity Stones were mentioned in the first film, they will not make it to the second. He added, "Thanos will not appear in Vol. 2. No. As I've said before, Thanos isn't in this movie. I think he's gonna have a little bit to do and say when it comes to a certain wars and infinity. We've got other fish to fry in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2."

'Avengers: Infinity War' is an upcoming two-part installment directed by Joe and Anthony Russo. Part one is scheduled to be released on May 4, 2018 while part two will follow a year later on May 3, 2019. The two films are intended as part of the MCU's Phase Three.
