LG Electronics is set to unveil the LG G5 on February 21, a day before the Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2016. As its launch nears, more speculations are surfacing online, one of which is that the upcoming flagship will feature dual camera system and secondary screen.
The Mobile Indian stated that Evan Blass, who is known with his Twitter account @evleaks, stated that he has actually seen the LG G5. He claimed that the upcoming flagship from LG has a secondary ticker display, which remains always on. It reportedly shows details such as time, weather, date and battery icon when the main display is off.
This technology is quite similar to what was available in LG's premium V10 smartphone wherein the ticker screen is positioned just above the main screen but below the top bezel. Aside from shortcuts, this secondary screen will let users access applications without having to go through the main menu.
Phone Arena reported that the LG G5 will also have a dual-lens camera system. With the use of two lenses paired with two camera sensors, the upcoming G5 could use this feature to let users change the focus of an image after it has been captured. Users could also use the information for easy object removal from a picture or they could use other neat effects. With this technology, it is also possible to have two cameras functioning at different focal lengths to allow zoom-like task.
For other rumored specs, Android Authority noted that the LG G5 might be powered by Qualcomm's new Snapdragon 820 processor, exactly the same chip that will fuel the both Galaxy S7 variants. The silicon is based on a smaller but more efficient process and it features Qualcomm's customized Kryo CPU cores and a high performance GPU. With this, it is predicted to be quite powerful, though tech enthusiasts are hoping that it is not as hot as last year's chipset.
The Snapdragon 820 will be coupled with 3 GB of RAM as well as 32 GB of storage that is expandable with a microSD card slot. The LG G5's battery is reportedly going to be smaller than last year's model with a 2,800mAh as opposed to the G4's 3,000mAh. This handset is speculated to have Quick Charge support, wireless charging support through the Magic Slot, and a replaceable battery.
Other notable rumored features include an IR blaster mounted at the top, a USB Type C port, and a speaker mounted on the bottom of the phone. A high resolution audio chip is also likely to be present on the handset.
The release of LG G5 is just a week away and it is anticipated that more information about the LG's upcoming flagship handset will surface.
