The Samsung Galaxy A5 and A7 2016 handsets that were first released in China are now available for purchase in the second largest smartphone market. They were announced in India on Feb. 14 before officially releasing on Feb. 15.

International Business Times noted that the Samsung Galaxy A5 and Galaxy A7 2016 will come in gold, black and white variety of colors. The Galaxy A7 (2016) arrives with a price tag of Rs 33,400, while the Galaxy A5 (2016) is tagged at Rs 29,400. These devices are only available online via Snapdeal aside from offline stores.

According to AsianetIndia, the Samsung Galaxy A5 2016 features a 5.2-inch full HD Super-AMOLED display with 1,080×1,920 pixel (424 ppi pixel density) resolution. Engineered with an octa-core processor clocking 1.6 GHz, it runs the Android 5.1.1 Lollipop as it comes out of the box.

The Galaxy A5 is packed with 16GB internal storage that can be further expanded up to 128GB via microSD card. It is also armed with a 2 GB RAM, a 13MP main camera with f/1.9 and OIS, a 5MP front-snapper, and a non-removable Li-Ion 2,900mAh capacity battery.

Meanwhile, Android Central noted that the Galaxy A5's tandem, Samsung Galaxy A7 2016, offers a 5.5-inch Full HD Super AMOLED display, with much better color accuracy compared to the first-gen model. Under its chassis is an Exynos 7580 octa-core processor, which offers eight Cortex A53 cores (ARMv8-A architecture) clocked at 1.6GHz. The GPU is ARM's Mali-T720 MP3, clocked at 700MHz. Samsung Electronics is also offering an international edition of the Galaxy A7 with the Snapdragon 615 that has four Cortex A53 cores clocked at 1.2GHz and four Cortex A53 at 1.5GHz.

This year's A7 version is packed with 3GB RAM, 16 GB of internal memory, and a microSD slot that can take memory cards up to 128GB in size. As for its camera, it is armed with a 13MP camera with f/1.9 lens and a 5MP front snapper. This handset has support for LTE Category 6 connectivity (300Mbps down), Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.1 LE, and dual SIM functionality. When it comes to battery life, the Galaxy A7 outmatches the Galaxy S6 as it is powered by a 3300mAh capacity battery. Combine that with a Full HD display, users will get a battery that lasts a day and a half with ease.

The first-generation Galaxy A series has targeted the emerging markets, and Samsung is set to continue the trend as the company launches this year's refresh. Currently, there is no word yet from Samsung as to when these phones will be available in other markets.
