Google has released the Android 6.0 Marshmallow September last year but as of the moment a lot of Android smartphone users are still waiting for the update. Samsung device owners are one of those who are keeping an eye for the roll out. Recently, a leaked document has revealed the release schedule of the software to Samsung Galaxy S6 and Galaxy Note 5 users.
According to BGR, a new leak revealed the release date details for the update and it includes Samsung's 2015 and 2014 flagships. Based on the documents, Samsung device owners will have to wait a few extra weeks or months before obtaining the Android 6.0 update.
The leaked documents revealed that the Galaxy S6, Galaxy S6 Edge and Galaxy S6 Edge+ will receive the Android 6.0 upgrade in February or March, with the phablet version of the device set to have it first. The Galaxy Note 5 is also scheduled for a February release, even though there is no specific release date available yet. The Galaxy S5, on the other hand, will be upgraded to Android 6.0 either in March or April, just like the Galaxy Note 4 and Galaxy Note Edge.
Furthermore, Gospel Herald reported that some of the Android 6.0 Marshmallow release deadlines given by the South Korean tech company have been moved up a month. Last year, there were talks saying that the Marshmallow will be arriving to Samsung smartphones shortly after the arrival of the New Year, but it didn't materialize.
This indicates that the Marshmallow release date for Samsung devices is a little bit delayed. Another factor that affects the release is the carrier, which in the United States includes AT&T, Verizon, Sprint, T-Mobile, and US Cellular. Android software update is famous for being rolled out earlier on some carriers in comparison to others. But as of the moment, the Samsung series doesn't seem to have any of its devices on any carriers running with Marshmallow.
Aside from the above mentioned devices, Samsung Galaxy A8, A7, A5, A3, E7, and E5, as well as the Samsung tablets like the Galaxy Alpha, Galaxy Tab A, Galaxy Tab S2 9.7, and Tab S2 8.0 are also eligible for the Android 6.0 Marshmallow update.
As for the handsets that won't be receiving upgrades, it seems that any Samsung flagship older than the S4 won't get the latest OS, and that goes for the Note 3 as well.
Considering the delay in the roll out of Andoid M which gives the company more time to polish the OS, Samsung patrons can expect the upcoming software update to be as flawless as possible. It is better to have it delayed than receiving the upgrade with several issues.
