Android 6.0 Marshmallow Update To Roll Out On Samsung Galaxy Note 5 and Galaxy S6 Edge Devices This Month

By

New rumors have surfaced online regarding the Android 6.0 Marshmallow update roll out to Samsung handsets. The Galaxy Note 5 and Galaxy S6 Edge handsets are now slated to receive the much awaited software upgrade this month.

According to Neurogadget, Samsung is currently one of the much known smartphone makers in the world as it is releasing variety of handsets ranging from entry level to high-end. Nevertheless, the flagship devices of the South Korean tech company are always privileged to receive the latest Android updates first. Unluckily, as of the moment none of the top devices released between 2014 and 2015 have been upgraded to Marshmallow. But a new leaked document suggests that Samsung will start rolling out the 6.0 Marshmallow update in February.

Latin Post reported that the leaked document entitled The Samsung "Android 6.0 Update Guide (Phase. 1) is from Xtech Leaks. The paper provides good news for 2015 and 2014 Samsung Galaxy Note and Galaxy S-model owners. This is because most of the Android 6.0 Marshmallow updates will be arriving to most Samsung devices in the next month or two.

Based on the leak, the Samsung Galaxy Note 5 and Galaxy S6 Edge+ will be obtaining the Marshmallow firmware this month. The Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge are most likely to follow as these devices are scheduled either this month or next month. Additionally, the Samsung Galaxy S5, Note 4 and Note Edge will be having the Android 6.0 update on March or April this year.

The document also revealed that the status of the updates for every device has been "approved" by Samsung. This indicates that U.S. carriers may have to finish their testing before the update goes on a public release. It would probably add a couple weeks, minimum, to the software release date schedule. But as Samsung described, the estimated time of arrival of these updates will be a month long.

Furthermore, Vine Report cited handsets that are eligible for the Android 6.0 Marshmallow update. The lists include Galaxy Tab S2 9.7, Galaxy Tab S2 8, Galaxy Tab S 8.4, Galaxy Tab A 9.7 and Galaxy Tab A 8 tablets, Galaxy Alpha, Galaxy A3, A5, Galaxy E5 and E7, Galaxy J2, J5 and J7.

In related news, Samsung has been beta testing Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow on its Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge, but the firmware was incorrectly sent to Galaxy S5 owners.

The Galaxy S7, which is the next flagship handset from Samsung, is expected to arrive this spring on Android 6.0 Marshmallow. Hopefully upon its launch, the current flagship devices already obtained the Android 6.0 upgrade.
