After a series of soak testing, Verizon Wireless is finally rolling out the Android 6.0 Marshmallow firmware update to its Motorola DROID Turbo 2 handsets. The operating system upgrade will bring new features and exciting enhancements to the devices for better performance.
According to Neurogadget, the Motorola DROID Turbo 2 under Verizon has started receiving the Android 6.0 Marshmallow.. The build number of the firmware that the users should receive is 24.14.9. It can be remembered that a soak test was conducted in December last year on a few employee units. Finally, the update is now available to the customers.
GottaBeMobile reported that this firmware carries an improved security, performance, and battery life. It also brings a lot of much needed enhancements as well as a few bug fixes for Turbo 2 owners.
The battery life of this handset was already great, but Doze will make it better, according to the site. The permission controls will keep the DROID Turbo 2 handsets more safe, and Motorola also has some changes in there too.
It was mentioned that the ambient display mode has been removed, and the smartphone will default to Motorola's own Moto Display technology. The Android 6.0 also brings the Attentive Display settings and more options in Moto Assist. Some bloatware and other small bug fixes that users aren't able to see have also been omitted.
Additionally, users of Turbo 2 could expect the latest February security patch from Google. Although few details are available, it was reported that most Moto X owners are enjoying the latest update, and the same great experience is expected to roll-over for Moto DROID Turbo 2 users as well. A longer battery life and overall better smartphone performance are two of the notable differences that should be noticed once the update arrives.
Since the Android 6.0 Marshmallow firmware is an over-the-air update, Android Police stated that the upgrade will be delivered to devices on a WiFi network. Users of Droid Turbo 2 should make sure that their battery is charged before starting the software installation to avoid interruption.
The Android 6.0 Marshmallow is expected to roll out gradually, so owners of Motorola DROID Turbo 2 will not obtain the firmware all at once. Just in case they haven't received any notification, they can manually check by going to Settings and Software Update.
