The Nintendo NX will reportedly run on Android OS. The next Nintendo hybrid console could come with a touchscreen controller and rumored to release in autumn 2016.
Rumors say that Nintendo will adopt the Android operating system for its next game console. According to Expert Reviews, a report from Nikkei said that Nintendo will break tradition by equipping the NX with Android platform. However, Nintendo said the rumor was not true as per Wall Street Journal.
Nikkei is known for making accurate predictions on all things Nintendo, even though the gaming company denies them. Previously, Nikkei predicted that Nintendo will launch mini-games on smartphones. Although Nintendo denied the rumor, it later released complete game titles on mobile phones.
Design & Trend reported that the Nintendo NX might arrive in autumn 2016 or next year. An analyst from Nomura Securities predicted that the NX will be officially unveiled in June and released to the public in October or November. The next Nintendo game console might arrive in time for the holiday season. Production of the console had reportedly started last year, as per Digitimes.
The Nintendo NX is believed to be a mobile hybrid console completely different from the failed Wii U. Sources say that the NX will have a portable handheld unit for gaming on-the-go. It will also allegedly run on cutting-edge processors that can beat those of the Xbox One and the PS4.
A patent discovered in Free Patents Online suggests that the Nintendo NX will be a touchscreen controller similar to the Wii U GamePad. It will come with control sticks that can be used for navigation and for typing.
Youth Health Magazine said that the Nintendo NX will have better third-party support. Users may be able to "graphically demanding" PS4 game titles. Tatsumi Kimishima, Nintendo President, said that the NX will be offer a unique gaming experience compared to previous Nintendo platforms.
There are rumors saying that the Nintendo NX might launch with the newest Legend of Zelda game. Nintendo hopes to regain lost profits with the release of the NX console.
