Possible prototypes of the Moto X and Moto G 2016 have a sleeker and slimmer design as shown in leaked photos. The 4th-gen Moto X was revealed to sport an all-metal unibody.
A series of images showed what the Moto X and Moto G 2016 could look like. hellomotoHK leaked photos believed to give glimpses of the early prototypes of the next Moto X and Moto G iterations. Christian Today reported that the images were taken from a Lenovo fabrication line, suggesting that the devices are still in the early development phase.
Lenovo bought Motorola in 2014 but did not make drastic changes to the Moto E, G, and X designs. However, the current image leaks of the Moto X 2016 prototypes suggest that Lenovo will be implementing big changes for the said Moto phone.
The new Moto X and Moto G 2016 may have sleeker and slimmer builds as suggested in the leaked photos. The Moto G prototype looked similar to its predecessor, sporting the vertical camera module, Moto dimple, and curved case. It was shown flaunting a colored back cover which means Lenovo may have retained the Moto Maker program. Customers may still be able to choose from a variety of colors to customize their Moto G 2016 phones.
As for the Moto X 2016, the leaked photos show that it will ditch plastic and sport a full-metal body. A Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 processor expected to power the phone could be paired with a heat pipe to prevent overheating. The 4th-gen Moto X may also have a native fingerprint scanner for security.
Neurogadget said that the upcoming Moto phones will still sport the Motorola logo at the back. Lenovo will add its own branding below the Moto logo. Rumors saying Lenovo will discontinue the Moto brand are false as the company only plans to rename it as Moto by Lenovo.
The Moto X and Moto G 2016 could have a tentative release in July 2016 as suggested by a Lenovo executive, reported Phone Arena. Since the leaked photos show early prototypes of the Moto phones, experts believe that the final designs will look much different.
Both the Moto X and Moto G 2016 phones are expected to run Android Marshmallow out of the box. Rumors say that the devices will feature a QHD display and 3GB of RAM.
