The Pokemon 20th Anniversary celebration is in full swing, with the release of new merchandise, and a very special distribution event to commemorate the event. And to start it off, Nintendo has released the first of the Mythical Pokemon in its year-long distribution event.
Mew is making his way to Pokemon Omega Ruby, Alpha Sapphire, X and Y this month. Nintendo Insider reports that the Mew will be available in Gamestop from Febuary 1 to 28, and will have the move Pound and the ability Synchronize. Mew was released to concide with the release of the Pokemon TCG: Mythical Pokemon Collection, which features a special promotional Mew card and two promotional Pokemon TCG: Generations booster packs.
The distribution event isn't the only thing Nintendo is giving to fans. The official Pokemon website has a full list of this month's celebratory releases, which includes a limited offer to watch the first Pokemon movie, with a remastered edition to make its way on Google Play, iTunes and Amazon. A special interactive ebook of the movie was also released in the iBooks section of iTunes, complete with cinematics from the movie. Pokemon: The First Movie will be available to watch on the website's Pokemon TV page, or over at the Pokemon TV app. Other Pokemon episodes are also available in Pokemon TV
A full list of the Mythical Pokemon to be released is available over at the Pokemon 20th Anniversary page. Celebi will be the next available this month, via the Nintendo Network. The Pokemon being distributed seems to follow their respective games' releases and Pokedex entries, with a different one replacing the previous month's Pokemon. The page also includes basic information such as the movesets of the Pokemon and their Abilities.
Mew will be available via GameStop, and players can request the code at the retailer. Pokemon ORAS and XY are available to play on the Nintendo 3DS.
