With the re-release of the original Pokemon Games and such, Nintendo going to host a year-long Pokemon distribution event featuring 1 Legendary Pokemon every month. This is to commemorate the upcoming 20th anniversary of the game's release.
Throughout the year, starting in Febuary, Pokemon will be distributed in Gamestop and the Nintendo Network, with one new Pokemon every month. All of the Pokemon distributed in this event are Legendary Pokemon, and will be available from the first of the month to the 24th of the month. Serebii.net has a full list of the upcoming Pokemon, with their movesets, held Items and Abilities also listed.
Darryn Bonthuys of Lazygamer reports that the distribution for all the Pokemon in this event will alternate between Gamestop and Nintendo Network. Bonthuys advises players that most other regions might not be able to acquire any of the Pokemon distributed in Gamestop. He also notes that while the European website for the event seems to list the same Pokemon, the dates are missing and says you'll need to "check back soon" for more details.
Aside from this event, IGN reports a full roster of merchandise and releases for this year. Aside from the re-release of the original Pokemon Red and Blue versions for the 3DS, and that Nintendo will be releasing 3DS bundles with the original games pre-installed on the consoles itself, along with limited-edition covers. They are also releasing 12 movies on iTunes, Google Play, and Amazon, including remastered editions of the first 3 Pokemon movies. New Merchandise, including a new Trainer Red figurine, TCG expansions, and commemorative items will also be made available this year. Lastly, Pokken Tournament and Pokemon Go are also highlighted as this year's new releases, two games which have been hyped up by the fanbase since their announcements.
The distribution event will start with Mew on Febuary 1st at Gamestop. It will be available on Pokemon X, Y, Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire.
