Samsung Electronics is not yet mentioning anything about the Android Marshmallow release to its flagship smartphones, but it looks like some Galaxy Note 5 users are already experiencing the new OS. The South Korean tech giant has reportedly started the Android 6.0.1 beta testing to select Note 5 devices in US.
According to Android Geeks, it looks like the users of the Galaxy Note 5 will have to wait a little bit longer than expected to obtain the Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow update from Samsung. The tech company recently started the Android Marshmallow update rollout for the Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge in South Korea and many are expecting for the company to soon deliver the update to owners of the Galaxy Note 5 and the Galaxy S6 Edge+ as well. Nevertheless, that may not happen as soon as Samsung Electronics has reportedly started the Marshmallow beta update release for selected Galaxy Note 5 users in the United States.
It can be remembered that Samsung began the Android Marshmallow beta program last month, as the company first rolled out the update to Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge owners in South Korea. It was later made accessible to Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge owners in the UK as well. The actual beta program in the US was then publicized a few weeks back for the AT&T Galaxy S6 Edge and Galaxy Note 5 units as well as the Verizon Wireless Galaxy S6 Edge and Galaxy S6 Edge+ units.
Neowin reported that the South Korean tech company has seeded its Android 6.0.1 beta to a small number of users which is believed to be around 200 participants with a Galaxy Note 5 on AT&T. Weighing 1355.94MB, the Android 6.0.1 carries the build number MMB29K.N920AUCU2BPB1.
When it comes to the enhancements that the Android 6.0.1 brings to the Samsung Galaxy Note 5, it is reported that the Samsung's user interface looks like a refined version of its Android 5.0 and 5.1 UI. As reported by PhoneDog, it includes several distinguished Marshmallow features like Doze battery saving, improved app permissions, and Google Now on Tap.
As Samsung is still under the beta testing stage, the public roll out of the Android Marshmallow might take a little bit longer. Nevertheless, this upgrade might be worth the wait as it brings some new features and enhancements to the device.
