A lot of non-Nexus device owners are patiently waiting for the Android 6.0 Marshmallow update to hit their devices. Samsung Electronics is one of the smartphone makers who have promised to deliver the update to its handsets and now the Galaxy Note 5, Note 4, Note Edge and Galaxy S6 users are expecting the Marshmallow software anytime soon.
According to International Business Times, the Android 6.0 Marshmallow release for the Galaxy Note 5 and Galaxy S6 Edge+ smartphones were previously expected to take place in December 2015. The Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge users are also expecting to receive the Android 6.0 during this month. However, the January is already approaching to its end but Smsung has not confirmed anything yet about the release of the new OS to its 2015 flagship smartphones.
Fortunately, a fresh roadmap has surfaced revealing the alleged new schedule of Android 6.0 Marshmallow update to Samsung devices. The internal document that has been leaked came from XTECH LEAKS.
According to the document, the Galaxy Note 5 and Galaxy S6 Edge+ smartphones will obtain the Android 6.0 Marshmallow update in February while the Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge smartphones are scheduled to get it sometime between February and March. As for the Galaxy Note 4, Galaxy Note Edge and Galaxy S5 smartphones, the Android M will hit these handsets between March to April. The leaks claim that the aforementioned schedule already received an approval from Samsung.
If proven accurate, it is most probable that the arrival of Android 6.0 Marshmallow to carrier variants will follow suit, once the testing process is completed.
Neurogadget stated on its article that upon updating the Samsung devices to Android 6.0 Marshmallow firmware, users will be seeing enhancements on their handsets. These include the Doze Mode, which is helping to save battery by closing all the applications running in the background even though it's not used; the Google Now on Tap, Fingerprint support, better app permissions and many more.
Samsung is also reported to have released the Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow beta for Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge users. Rumor has it that the this version of the Marshmallow update will soon be made available for other Samsung devices after the release of Android 6.0.
