Android M 6.0 Marshmallow Roll Out Schedule for LG G4, G3, and G Stylo Under US Major Carriers

By

LG device owners under US carriers who are eagerly waiting for the Android 6.0 Marshmallow roll out are in for some good news. The Marshmallow firmware will reportedly be rolling out on LG G4, G3 and G Stylo under Verizon, T-Mobile, US Cellular, AT&T, and Sprint.

According to Android Headlines, LG Electronics is looking forward to adding more handsets on the Marshmallow update plans. Although the South Korean tech company hasn't always been able to roll out updates in a timely manner, a few of its premium flagships have reportedly started obtaining the Android 6 in some parts of the world. This indicates that it should only be a matter of time before the update officially hits all eligible LG smartphones globally.

Additionally, the company has already given the official list of devices that will obtain the new mobile operating system.

Gospel Herald reported that the LG G4 is the first one to obtain the Android M, aside from the new ones in Google's Nexus series. The Marshmallow update is now rolling out across Europe as a 1.55 GB download.

Previously, LG put out a press release stating that the company would be the first to roll out Android 6.0 on their devices. Although, Google had it first, LG told its users that they will be ahead of other smartphone makers and it is indeed happening.

Even the LG G3, a flagship smartphone from 2014, is already receiving an over-the-air update from Verizon. However, just because it has arrived to Verizon this does not mean that the Android upgrade has landed on other carriers as well, such as US Cellular, Sprint, T-Mobile, and AT&T. After all, OS updates often vary from carrier to carrier. But it is always a good sign when it arrives to one. It is now safe to conclude that the other carriers will get it sooner or later.

Interestingly, the G3 that is two years old has also received it before the G4.

Aside from the two, LG G Stylo which is a Galaxy Note contender, has also received its Marshmallow update recently. The LG G Flex2 and LG V10 were also listed to the roster of the handsets to get the Android 6.0 Marshmallow update.

Upon updating to the Android 6.0 Marshmallow, users will be lifted from the frustrating and bug-filled Android Lollipop. The new Marshmallow firmware features modified security enhancements, improved user interface and bug fixes. It also offers improved battery life with Android Doze, Google Now on Tap (long press home button) and revamped volume controls with a new do-not-disturb mode.

It reportedly takes only 20 minutes to download the new software. As always, it is advised that users have to update their LG handsets via WiFi because the update is 1 GB in size.

With this, it seems that LG is quite on track at delivering the Android 6.0 Marshmallow software to its customers. Moreover, other devices from the South Korean tech company are expected to get the upgrade really soon.
