Android 6.0 Marshmallow Update Officially Rolling Out To HTC One M9 Devices In Canada

HTC is one of the smartphone makers who have promised to deliver the Android 6.0 Marshmallow update to its devices. Finally, the company confirmed that the firmware upgrade is already making its way on HTC One M9 devices in Canada.

According to Tech Times, HTC's Mo Versi has announced on a social networking site that Android 6.0 Marshmallow for One M9 has been released to a few major carriers is Canada. The subscribers under Sasktel, Wind Mobile, Videotron, and Rogers are confirmed to receive the update bringing new features and improvements. Nevertheless, there is no available information yet as to when Sprint will start the rollout, but the HTC One M9 in this carrier will definitely get the new update.

Android Headlines reported the new features that the Android 6.0 Marshmallow update will bring. One of which is the Doze Mode, wherein the operating system has the ability to turn off the applications that are not in use making the device conserve energy. This feature will also shut down AutoSync, location sensors and similar applications when the device is not being moved, but will reactivate these features once the handset is used.

Other added features include the application permissions that give the user more control over their apps; and Google Now on Tap which enables Google to help based on the contents seen on the screen. HTC also enhanced the camera application, and made generic performance improvements and bug fixes.

For the procedure of updating the HTC One M9 handsets, users will have to go to Settings> About> Software Update. The handset will download a smaller update first of 130 MB, which is a preparation update before the full 1.3 GB Android 6.0 Marshmallow update package is downloaded. If customers are on a limited bandwidth plan, it is highly recommended to download the total of 1.4 GB using a Wi-Fi network to avoid extra charges.

Android Headlines added that users should expect the over-the-air update for Android 6.0 will roll out in stages, meaning not all One M9 devices will receive it all at once. Additionally, it is also reported that One M8 owners under Sprint and T-Mobile could presume the Android M updates for their handsets will be available later this month.

As the update confirmation of One M9 has been posted through a social networking site, users of HTC handsets who are anxious to know more about the Android 6.0 Marshmallow update can ask Mo Versi. The company's Vice President is known to be active and responsive on his Twitter account.
