Apple Rolls Out iOS 9.3 Beta 1 To Public: New Features Include Night Shift, Multi-User Mode for iPad

By

Apple Inc. has released the iOS 9.3 beta 1 to the public on Monday, January 11. The said software update brings a bunch of new and enhanced features to iPad such as the night shift, multi-user mode and a lot more.

According to ZDNet, apart from adding a way to trail cellular data usage using the iOS Wi-Fi assist feature, Apple has added a number of other enhancements to its mobile software platform. One prominent feature is specific to iPads and aimed at the education market, known as the multi-user account access while the another is the Night Shift setting.

NDTV Gadgets gave the detailed information about the newest features that the iOS 9.3 beta brings to the iPad. The Night Shift feature, if enabled, changes the white balance of the screen based on the time and geographic location that will suit user's eyes. It will automatically change the colors of the display to the warmer end of the spectrum, making it easier on the owner's eyes. During morning, it will return the display to its regular settings.

This feature has long been requested by users and last month Google has introduced a similar feature to Google Play Books. On the other hand, Amazon released the Fire HD 8 Reader's Edition with Blue Shade, which filtered blue light at night.

The second biggest feature is the multi-user mode on iPad, but, it's limited to the iOS 9.3 Education Preview. For so long, tech enthusiasts have asked the company to let multiple users sign in with their accounts on the same iPad, and the American tech giant is finally addressing it with Shared iPad feature.

The feature, however, is only available for the education sector, wherein more than one person can use the same device. With this, more than one student will be able to log in to the iPad.

Apart from the above mentioned features, Ars Technica cited other enhancements to be experienced when the iOS device is updated to iOS 9.3.

Upon upgrading, the Notes app will let users set a secondary password or a fingerprint to lock it. This is useful when users happen to share an iPhone or iPad with other people and they don't want them to read their stuff.

There is also the News app which will do more to help owners of the handset curate the kinds of stories they will see. The Health app is also improved as it is now easier to find HealthKit-compatible apps to track the things users want to track. It also integrates movement, calorie, and standing data from the Apple Watch when handlers have one connected. Lastly, the CarPlay picks up some new Apple Music and Maps features to let owners find music and destinations more easily.

The iOS 9.3 will continue to run on anything that can run iOS 9, from the iPhone 4S and iPad 2, all the way up to the recently released iPhone 6S and iPad Pro. Users who are interested in the public beta can download it from Apple's beta software site.
