With the release of Apple's iPhone 6s Plus, the device did not just bring record breaking sales to the company but also a boost on the performance charts. Recently, AnTuTu, one of the well-known benchmark vendors for handsets, has awarded the model as the best performing phone of 2015.
According to Tech2, Apple's iPhone 6s Plus has been commended even on the past as the device delivers really awesome scores on the Geekbench benchmarking tool. This handset certainly impressed everyone with its single-core score that faired a lot better compared to the competition available on Android flagship smartphones.
Recently, makers of the benchmarking tool AnTuTu announced its list of the Top 10 performing smartphones in 2015 and the results are indeed stunning. The dual-core iPhone 6s Plus essentially beat the entire 2015 lot of Android flagships. This list includes the Meizu MX5 Pro and the Samsung Galaxy Note 5.
International Business Times added that the list was collected after gathering average figures from at least 500 entries per model. This gives a comparatively precise view on how smartphones perform. The top performer, iPhone 6s Plus that is engineered with the latest A9 processor, garnered a score of 1,32,620 - a comfortable 30% lead from its bordering rival Huawei Mate 8, which took second spot on the list with a score of 92,746.
It is the first time the Apple operating system has been matched with Android handsets. The iPhone 6s Plus armed with just a 2 GB RAM and dual-core processor achieved to beat smartphones on the list with double the RAM coupled with quad-core or octa-core processors.
Samsung Electronics trailed Apple as both the Galaxy Note 5 and Galaxy S6 Edge+ ranked in the top 5 with a little over 1200 points of difference between them. The Meizu Pro 5 model is a revelation candidate among major players, beating Samsung models. The much talked about One Plus 2 with the well-received Cynogen mod earned the seventh spot on the list, just above its close opponent Xiaomi Note Pro which landed on the ninth spot. The list was below par for Google as the only handset to make the list is the Nexus 6P.
Phone Arena noted that the iPhone 6s Plus is armed with the Apple A9, a chipset that integrates a 1.84GHz dual-core Twister CPU and a PowerVR GT7600 GPU, paired with 2 GB of RAM. Based on the paper of specs, the iPhone 6S Plus may not sound all that notable matched to the Huawei Mate 8 which is packed with 4 GB of RAM and a Kirin 950 SoC that has four Cortex A72 CPU cores clocked at 2.3GHz, as well as four Cortex-A53 CPU cores clocked at 1.8GHz paired with Mali Mali-T880 MP4 GPU.
It is worth mentioning though that both iPhone 6S Plus and Huawei Mate 8 run a resolution of 1920 by 1080 pixels, which should put the two devices on equal place in terms of necessary resources.
Looking forward, it is yet to be determined if the 2016 Android camp, which will boast star chips such as the Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 and the Samsung Exynos 8890, will be able to dethrone Apple's iPhone 6S Plus in the AnTuTu benchmark charts.
