Sony Xperia Z3 Compact Android 6.0 Marshmallow Update Expected in the US in February

Sony has been silent about software updates these days since it first revealed its Marshmallow roadmap plans last October. However, new reports swinging in the tech world that the Japanese company is gearing the Android 6.0 Marshmallow due in the United States in February.

Sony Xperia Z3 Compact is reported anew to get the official Android 6.0 Marshmallow via over-the-air (OTA) update next month. Xperia Z3 Compact with model number D5803 is expected to be the first version to receive the update.

The device is one of the 14 lucky smartphones and tablets to receive the biggest Android update in history. In a post on Sony Mobile's official blog site, the company stated that it is very much stoked to see in actuality the new Sony features and functionality and the improvements it made. The article came after the hullaballoo about the spate of revelations from a mobile operators and device manufacturers.

Although, some tech sites pointed out that February 7 is the exact date, Sony kept mum about the rumors as of now.

Android 6.0 Marshmallow brings in key features like greater control over app permissions, easier purchase, more secured Android Pay, battery saver Doze, redesigned app drawer, Google Now on Tap, and more.

  • Google Now becomes smarter with Now on Tap. It recognizes various contexts, bids answers and helps users take action.
  • Apps permissions provides users improved control of the permissions of downloaded apps. Users are given the choice to nod or discard permissions entirely.
  • App drawer has an all-new design with vertical scroll instead of horizontal. It also shows four most recently used apps across the top of the menu.
  • Android Pay now supports American Express, Visa, Mastercard, and Discover.
  • Doze makes use of motion detectors to control device when not in use. It also diminishes background processes, while begins alarms and informs users of priority notifications even when using Doze.

Marshmallow is also confirmed coming to more of Sony's devices.
