Android 6.0 Marshmallow is making rounds in the mobile tech industry today as its flagship smartphones and variants have slowly been receiving software updates. These include the HTC One A9, One M9+, One M9, One M8, One M8s, One M8 Eye and One M8 Google Play Edition (GPE).

HTC phones are reportedly getting the official Android 6.0 Marshmallow via over-the-air (OTA) release in the first and second quarters of 2016. The upgrade comes with a string of new features and optimizations for the overall system stability.

Debuted the tech world in November 2015, One A9 came out of the box with Android 6.0 version. Unlocked units of the phone are currently getting in stages the Android 6.0.1 version along with a new and updated set of 200 emojis on top of the security patches.

The bigger version of One M9 is slated to receive the Android 6.0 Marshmallow upgrade in the first quarter of 2015. As of the moment, One M9+ is now under the certification process of HTC to ensure the best experience with the software.

The 2015 flagship smartphone of HTC was first confirmed to be updated with Marshmallow in December 2015 but it was not pushed through. One M9 was still in development stage then. The unlocked versions of the device had begun receiving the update early this week and will continue until completed. Versions under mobile carriers will be updated at a later time since they still have to incorporate their own build with Marshmallow.

One M8 was also confirmed to receive the Marshmallow build in December 2015. Unlike One M9, the unlocked versions of the device did receive the update first in Taiwan. Versions under mobile carriers will be updated at a later time since they still have to incorporate their own build with Marshmallow.

Android 6.0 Marshmallow will come with Doze, a battery-saving feature, a redesigned app drawer, Google Now on Tap, improved app permissions, and more.
