The 1995 fantasy adventure film, Jumanji, will be returning to spook the children again in the upcoming remake as Sony announced last year. Now, the film's progress includes the newly acquired director Jake Kasdan with acclaimed producers for the film adaptation of Jumanji.

20 years after the 1995 film, Jumanji, has hit the theaters and become the 10th highest grossing film of the same year, Alan Parrish and Judy Sheperd will be back on the big screen. According to Deadline, the remake will be released on Christmas Day, December 25 of 2016 with Jake Kasdan to helm the project. Kasdan is about to work with Matt Tolmach as the producer of the anticipated film. Moreover, Scott Rosenberg and Jeff Pinkner, from the Amazing Spiderman 2, are the scribes for the film wherein their script is based on the draft of original film's writers.

Further to this, fans of the film shouldn't worry about Jake Kasdan for he is also the son of Empire Strikes Back writer Lawrence Kasdan. Not only this but also according to Coming Soon, Kasdan also directed the Sex Tape, Bad Teacher and the Orange County. Moreover, he'll be getting aid from executive producers Ted Field and Mike Weber to handle the remake of Chris Van Allsburg's Caldecott-winning children's book about the jungle themed board game.

In line with the original film's story, Jumanji was previously brought to the big screen by director Joe Johnson as reported in Entertainment Weekly. With him is the cast starring the late Robin Williams, Kirsten Dunst and Bradley Pierce in 1995. The film was able to be a success after grossing $100 million at the domestic box office.

The 1995 film, Jumanji, will be having a reboot where Jake Kasdan will direct the project after Sony announced that the film is part of their 2016 roster. The magical adventure will also be handled by producers such as Matt Tolmach and executive producers Ted Field and Mike Weber. The anticipated Jumanji reboot is expected to be released on December 25, 2016.
