Famed director of several blockbuster movies, Guillermo Del Toro, is now in talks to be the director in the rumoured reboot of 1966's Fantastic Voyage. Moreover, James Cameron, director of Avatar, will join him in the upcoming remake.

After the success of Pacific Rim, many have been eyeing the director for a sequel but news proved that the part two might not be coming any time soon. However, the Mexican director didn't disappoint the fans as he is now in talks for the Fantastic Voyage remake. According to The Hollywood Reporter, 20th Century Fox and Lightstorm Entertainment are now negotiating with Del Toro to helm the remake. It should be noted that Del Toro is behind films such as Pan's Labyrinth and Hell Boy and he was considered to direct The Hobbit trilogy.

Now that the director is in talks, many have been predicting the success of the upcoming film as Latin Post wrote. According to them, the director's tremendous sense of fantasy is a perfect alignment to the remake while his principle of humans as the ultimate monsters fits into the idea of the film. To shed light, Fantastic Voyage is about a scientist that developed a means to shrink people for a short time and the plot covers the scientist's adventure to save himself from a brain clot through this technology.

Lastly, progress of the film's production features Titanic director, James Cameron as a producer of the remake. Gizmodo reported that James Cameron is on board to do the remake since a decade ago and now with David Goyer as the scriptwriter, the film is happening. This might confirm the 3D technology that Cameron had used in the 2009 film Avatar. Moreover, this would be another collaboration of Del Toro and Cameron after the two tried to take the project, At the Mountains of Madness a few years ago.

'Fantastic Voyage' is getting a remake and would be helmed by blockbuster film director Guillermo Del Toro with James Cameron as the producer. The latter confirmed his involvement a decade ago but the film was still in hiatus while Del Toro is now being engaged in talks regarding the possibility but news regarding his confirmation is not available. 'Fantastic Voyage' Remake is the reboot of the 1966 science fiction directed by Richard Fleischer and written by Harry Kleiner.
